The Marine and the Terrorist

The Marine
I’m the good guy, you’re the bad guy,
I’m fighting for freedom.
I want to do things my way –
I’ll sacrifice my life to kill you.

The Terrorist
I’m the good guy, you’re the bad guy,
I’m fighting for freedom.
I want to do things my way –
I’ll sacrifice my life to kill you.

It’s a great poem. May I ask about the context on which you (???) wrote it on. thanks

A well known US President expounding his great wisdom (sarcasm) about ‘terrorism’, little recognising that ‘terrorism’ comes in many shapes e.g. where one State strangles another with restrictive trade agreements, imposes a puppet government, supports a dictatorship or undermines another nation’s democracy etc.

The poem is a metaphor for the State vs. ‘terrorists’.

I seem to remember somewhere called Abu Ghraib.

Beginning in 2004, human rights violations in the form of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, including torture, reports of rape, sodomy, and homicideof prisoners held in the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq …

And there’s Guantanamo.

And waterboarding.

Lots of Afghan wedding parties being bombed.

Oh, and 100,00 people (Iraqis) killed in a nonsense war that had nothing to do with 9/11. Or anything at all, in fact, since Rumsfeld famously shook hands with Saddam Hussein when it suited America. That kind of large-scale death is terrorism on a BIG scale …

Someone’s told me this site is blacklisted to US military personnel ….

Probably a good idea because thinking is dangerous …

The difference is the Marine defends ideals such as freedom of speech, woman’s rights, and general freedom for the individual. The terrorist, well, you saw what they did to journalist Daniel Pearl.
